Winter hits Finland

Well, driving season for this year is over. We drove almost 600 miles this summer and it was absolutely amazing if all that hellish road noise and exhaust smell is not counted. Im quite sure there is plenty of people with pic of this beauty in their cameras, as we drove in local Historical-cars-convoy and there was masses of people gathered along the route. Maybe someday theyll look into those pics and tell tales to their offspring.
I tought that these cars were becoming rare but i was wrong, actually there is more Z-cars in Finland than ever! Im planning to meet some of them in next spring/summer (as soon as the snow melts!)

Things to do this before final registration/winter:

-Install new windshield wiper washer tank (already purchased but not installed)
-Drop the rear off and change oils
-MAYBE and i really mean MAYBE lift engine off and paint engine bay/engine and do all the "restoration" stuff outside engine.
-Door panels, those hotdamn door panels...
-New seat upholstery. I know one very capable seat restorer who might make his magic on to these old seatz. Of course thats gonna cost SOME....(i better sell our house to fund this project)
-New paint on hood, inspection lids and cowl.
-Change front turn signal wiring. Finnish legistlation wont approve that the turn signals are on all the time, they should work only when turning, so i'll have to figure out a way to do it.

  1. El Reverendo, have you seen those seat upholstery kits that are available for the z? they look pretty good, might be a better option than retrim which will never look the same as the original? I have one factory new butter scotch seat back trim and it looks very good. Maybe something for you to consider? anyway, glad you got your beauty on the road this summer and really hope to catch up with you some time soon!

  2. Yea i've considered those MSA packages. It might be worth a shot. I gotta take the seats to the upholstery guy for valuation. Hope his price is decent, he's done amazing job in one local 120Y.

  3. PM me when you know the price, I'd like to compare with the rates of a top Pro I know down here. he's great, does loads of concept car interiors for big manufacturers and also classic restorations, and he's not really expensive considering the reputation and quality. I was thinking of getting my 100A seats done by him but then I decided I won't restore my car but rather preserve it as well as I can. (but I will need to replace the driver's seat as it's torn so if you know of good 100A seats (and original floor carpet made of brown plastic) plz let me know)
